New Restaurant ~ Amaya La Jolla

Starting tonight, Amaya La Jolla, located at 1205 Prospect Street, opens its dramatic iron gates in the heart of La Jolla’s vibrant shopping and dining district. The restaurant combines the contemporary American menu that Executive Chef Camron Woods created at its sister restaurant, Amaya at The Grand Del Mar, with some exciting new additions. The stunning 10,000-square-foot restaurant, designed by Warren Sheets and inspired by the opulence of Italy’s impressive palazzos, has a handsome dining room, 66-seat bar and lounge and a wine cellar and private dining room for special business and social functions.Serving fine foods and dinner nightly, Amaya La Jolla’s menu will feature appetizers such as Angus Beef Carpaccio, Seared Day Boat Scallops, Buttermilk Fried Quail and so much more.

Restaurant Amaya La Jolla
Chef Woods hails from Charleston, S.C., and is pleased to share a menu of Southern heritage classics with diners on the West Coast. Indulge in the elegant fine dining experience in lovely La Jolla.
Interior designer Warren Sheets – president of San Francisco-based Warren Sheets Design, Inc. – also designed The Grand Del Mar and its dining venues and has incorporated many of the same stunning design details of the original Amaya restaurant here. For Amaya La Jolla, he took his inspiration from the architecture of Rome, with its large, ornate palazzos. The experience starts at the finely crafted oversized iron gates and continues into the glamorous dining room with its hand-carved stone accents; polished Italian marble; intricate wrought iron and crystal chandeliers; a vibrant gold, ochre and aubergine color palette; elaborate ceiling designs; hand-painted fine touches; and walls showcasing fine art (the space was formerly an art gallery).
Consisting of 300 labels – all under $100 – the wine list offers a comprehensive and carefully sommelier-selected inventory of global and regional choices and over 20 wines by the glass. The warm, exquisitely appointed bar and lounge, where live entertainment is provided nightly, is fully stocked with premium liquors. Signature cocktails like Coastal Sage (Herradura Tequila, Cointreau Noir, lime, agave nectar and sage) and seasonal sips such as Spring Fling (Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, guava juice, lemon and lime) are perfectly prepared by Amaya’s bar pros. Look no further for classy places to eat in San Diego and enjoy Amaya. Outfitted with large screen TVs for event viewing, the bar offers eight beers on tap and has a dedicated light menu of everyone’s favorites like Classic Hummus, Tempura Spicy Tuna Roll, Smoked Chicken Quesadilla, Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwich and Half-Pound Angus Burger.
